Atonement Life

 The book: “Lamb of the Free”  

Written by: "Andrew Remington Rillera". 

Presents compelling evidence against, “Penal Substitution Atonement”. I agree, that Biblical Salvation, is not based on a “ScapeGoat” Substitution sacrificial system. Messiah did not become mankind’s Sins, or pay anyone’s Sin Debt. 

However, I found many errors in the authors analysis of scripture. Here is my alternative presentation.


Rock of Salvation and Heavenly Design


Exodus 27:1-8; it is important to notice, the original requirement for a stone altar, has been replaced. Now, Moses received instruction, to manufacture, a hollow bronze, portable altar.


Exodus 27:1–8 (NASB95) — 1 “And you shall make the altar of acacia wood, 

(five cubits long and five cubits wide = 7 1/2 or exceeding 8 1/2 feet Square platform); 

the altar shall be square, and its height shall be 

(three cubits = 4 1/2 or possibly exceeding 5 feet tall). 

2 “You shall make its horns on its four corners; its horns shall be of one piece with it, and you shall overlay it with bronze. 3 “You shall make its pails for removing its ashes, and its shovels and its basins and its forks and its firepans; you shall make all its utensils of bronze. 4 “You shall make for it a grating of network of bronze, and on the net you shall make four bronze rings at its four corners. 5 “You shall put it beneath, under the ledge of the altar, so that the net will reach halfway up the altar. 6 “You shall make poles for the altar, poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with bronze. 7 “Its poles shall be inserted into the rings, so that the poles shall be on the two sides of the altar when it is carried. 8 “You shall make it hollow with planks; as it was shown to you in the mountain, so they shall make it. 


Sacrificial Symbolism and Spiritual Holiness


(Seven days, of sacrifice, and purification. Were required, to sanctify the priesthood, bronze alter, and holy garments. When the purification has been completed. Then the alter, is designated as Holy. And everything that touches the altar becomes Holy. So then, sacrificial blood, only becomes sanctified, when it is sprinkled on the alter that is Holy.)


(Added Note: Lev 9:22; 23; 24; After the seven days, of presenting the ceremonial offerings, for purification. Aaron stepped down from a platform, that made it possible, to lift up offerings, and placed them upon the bronze altar. Then Aaron and Moses, pronounced a blessing upon the people. Then miraculously, the “Glory of Yehwah” appeared. Revealing the “Holy Spirit” within a “Purifying Fire”, consuming the sacrifice, and sanctifying the altar as Holy.,

Lev 10:1; 2; 3; Later, Aaron’s two sons died, because they Burned unacceptable and strange incense, before Yehwah. Yehwah must be honored as Holy. And only acceptable offerings, may be presented, within the Holy Tabernacle.)


Exodus 29:35–37 (NASB95) — 35 “Thus you shall do to Aaron and to his sons, according to all that I have commanded you; you shall ordain them through seven days. 36 “Each day you shall offer a bull as a sin offering for atonement, and you shall purify the altar when you make atonement for it, and you shall anoint it to consecrate it. 37 “For seven days you shall make atonement for the altar and consecrate it; then the altar shall be most holy, and whatever touches the altar shall be holy.

Holy Spirit, Sanctifies the Altar


(The True designation, of the altar becoming Holy, significantly represents the invisible presence of Yehwah Elohe the Lord God. Yehwah’s presents, reveals His Spirit of Holiness, cleansing and sanctifying the altar.. So then, the priesthood, Holy garments, and altar, became a significant physical manifestation, of the Atoning properties of the Holy Spirit. And the sacrificial offerings, became acceptable, when the life blood, was sprinkled upon the altar of Holiness.)


Exodus 29:43–46 (NASB95) — 43 “I will meet there with the sons of Israel, and it shall be consecrated by My glory. 44 “I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar; I will also consecrate Aaron and his sons to minister as priests to Me. 45 “I will dwell among the sons of Israel and will be their God. 46 “They shall know that I am the Lord their God who brought them out of the land of Egypt, that I might dwell among them; I am the (Lord their God = Yehwah Elohe).

Holy to Yehwah


(The priesthood, sanctified altar, and everything within the Tabernacle of Meeting, is designated Holy to Yehwah. Strict observance of physical and ceremonial purity, allows a priest, to enter the outer Tabernacle. Presenting sacrificial blood, or other sacrificial offerings, must maintain purity, respecting Holiness. Absolutely no, symbolic representation of sin, Will be allowed to enter the presence of Holy Yehwah. Precise symbolic representations, clearly designate, the Holiness of Yehwah, sanctifies the priesthood, and alter. The Holy presence of Yehwah, also sanctifies, the sacrificial Blood, symbolically, receiving Atonement.)


Separating Holiness, from Sin


Exodus 28:36–38 (NASB95) — 36 “You shall also make a plate of pure gold and shall engrave on it, like the engravings of a seal, ‘Holy to the Lord.’ 37 “You shall fasten it on a blue cord, and it shall be on the turban; it shall be at the front of the turban. 38 “It shall be on Aaron’s forehead, and Aaron shall 

(take away the iniquity = symbolically the designation of “Holy”, signifies that nothing unclean or sinful, may enter the tabernacle of Yehwah’s presence. So that, the sacrificial blood, and other offerings, may also be designated as Holy.) 

of the holy things which the sons of Israel consecrate, with regard to all their holy gifts; and it shall always be on his forehead, that they may be accepted before the Lord.


Acceptable Sacrifice


(Rules for sacrificial offering. The designated animal, must be pure without defect. Presenting the required sacrifice, Will allow a person to be accepted before Yehwah’s tabernacle. Also, the person must be in a state of ceremonial purity. Physical uncleanliness, would prevent a person, from presenting a sacrificial offering.

Certain types of offerings. Such as, a guilt or sin offering. Receive instruction, designating a specific animal required for the offering. While other offerings, represent a free will, or peace offering. Presenting the offering, must meet the standard of purity.

The priesthood, must maintain Holiness, as a mediator before the Tabernacle of Yehwah. Only a sanctified priest, is allowed to carry, the sacrificial blood. And enter, within the outer Tabernacle, and sprinkle the blood, on the Holy altar.)

(Added Note: Presenting an offering, requires a person, to lay a hand, on the head of the animal. The laying on of a hand, represents a personal participation in presenting the acceptable sacrifice. The hand lane ceremony, never represents a transferring of sin or guilt to the animal. And the animal is not being punished, as a “Penal Substitutionary Atonement”. The pagan practice, of a substitution ”scapeGoat” sacrifice, represents the worship of Satan.)


Leviticus 1:1–5 (NASB95) — 1 Then the Lord called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying, 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When any man of you brings an offering to the Lord, you shall bring your offering of animals from the herd or the flock. 3 ‘If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer it, a male without defect; he shall offer it at the doorway of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted before the Lord. 4 ‘He shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, that it may be accepted for him to make atonement on his behalf. 5 ‘He shall slay the young bull before the Lord; and Aaron’s sons the priests shall offer up the blood and sprinkle the blood around on the altar that is at the doorway of the tent of meeting.


blood symbolizes Life.


(Lev 17:11; Heb 9:11; 12; 13; 14; 10:1; 2;3; 4; The sacrificial “Works of the Law”, required the death of an animal. The priest must Carry sacrificial blood, into the outer tabernacle, and sprinkle it upon the altar. So that, the life blood, maybe sanctified, as a Holy and acceptable offering. Sanctified blood, symbolizes Yehwah receiving the life of the animal. Therefore, the sacrificial symbolism does not focus on death. In contrast, the “Blood represents Life”, that is forever dedicated to Yehwah.

Ro 5:10; 1 Cor 15:17; 20; 21; 22; Lk 20:36; 37; 38; just as the death, of an animal, is symbolically separated from access to the Holy altar. So then, only the “Life Blood”, maybe sanctified, and designated as Holy. Figuratively, the Blood, portrays a “Life”, representing the acceptable offering, receiving “Atonement”. Atonement cleansing or purging, represents the removal, of every “Sin”, that would defile the acceptable offering. The significance within symbolism, demonstrates that messiah’s death does not save anyone. Messiah’s “Sinless Life”, became the acceptable offering. When Messiah was “Resurrected”, to “Eternal Life”. Therefore, Messiah’s Life, receive the “Atonement Blessing”. And through, Messiah’s Life. Worshipers may receive the Holy Spirit, for purging and cleansing, from all their Sins. The symbolism, within blood representing life. Emphasizes the importance, of presenting the acceptable offering. So that, the “Life”, receiving “Atonement”, may remain forever with Yehwah.

Heb 10:1; 2; 3; 4; The levitical priesthood, perform the required, sacrificial “Works of the Law”. Symbolic Works, could never Save worshipers, from their sins that lead to death.

Heb 5:7; 8; 9; 10:5; 6; 7; 8; 9; Psa 40:6; 7; 8; 9; 10; 11; Ro 12:1; 2; Messiah lived a Faithfully Obedient Life. Therefore, Messiah, established the way for disciples, to make their own life, a sacrifice of faithful obedience. With the help of the Holy Spirit, a disciple’s life, becomes the acceptable offering, receiving “Atonement Purification”. ) 


(Added Note: Lev 17:5; 6; 7; the Israelite people, are required to honor the Holy Tabernacle of Yehwah. All sacrificial offerings, must be presented to the priest before the Tabernacle. Following the proper procedure, of offering the blood, Will allow the sacrifice to become acceptable. This command, is intended to prevent the Israelite people, from offering sacrifices to idols. Condemning the worship of Satan and the Demons. Also consuming blood is prohibited. )


Leviticus 17:11 (NASB95) — 11 ‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.’

Atonement


(On the Day of Atonement. The priest must present, to seemingly identical goats, before Yehwah. Only Yehwah, may identify, which goat is the acceptable “Life”, that may enter His presence, in the “Most Holy Place”. The Blood or Life, of the acceptable goat, is sprinkled, on and before the “Mercy Seat”, upon the Ark of the Covenant. The acceptable sacrificial Blood or Life, is already Holy, within the presence of Yehwah. The acceptable Blood or Life, receive the designation of “Atonement”. And then, the Atonement Blood or Life, is sprinkled upon the sacrificial altar. The symbolic Atonement, is maintaining the Holiness of the altar. The Atonement Blood or Life, represents the perfect sacrifice that is acceptable to Yehwah.

The Atonement Blood or Life, it’s not cleansing the most holy place or sacrificial altar. The Atonement Blood or Life, only signifies perfection. And for Eternity, the Atonement Life, has set the standard. Requiring the removal of all Sin, and InJustice, from worshipers, making sacrificial offerings.)


(Added Note: Ex 29:43; 44; 45; 46; Remember earlier, Yehwah Elohe stated; His presence sanctifies the priesthood, altar, and sacrificial blood as Holy. No Sin, may physically or symbolically “Contaminate” the altar or Most Holy Place. 

Heb 10:1; 2; 3; 4; So then, the Atonement Life, must “Convict”, people of their “Sin”, by representing perfection. 

Jn 14:15; 16; 17; 16:8; 9; 10; 11; Atonement Holiness, removes all doubt, that Yehwah’s Holy Spirit, Will purge and cleanse all sinful lawlessness from His presence. And true worshipers, must make their life, a sacrifice, that is Holy and acceptable to Yehwah.

Ro 6:1-3; 4-5; 6; 7; 8; 9; 10; 11;  12 8:3; 4; 5; 6; 7; 8; 9; 10; 11; 12; 13; 14; 12:1; 2; 1 Jn 1:9-10; 2:4; 5; 6; 3:1; 2; 3-5; 6-7; 8; )


Leviticus 16:9–10 (NASB95) — 9 “Then Aaron shall offer the goat on which the lot for the Lord fell, and make it a 

(sin offering = the original Hebrew, should be translated, “Conviction of Sin”). 

10 “But the goat on which the lot for the 

(scapegoat = the original Hebrew, Azazel = “Cast out one”. 

fell shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make 

(Atonement = the Hebrew word “Kiper = purge or cleansing”) 

upon it, to send it into the wilderness as the 

(scapegoat = “Cast out one”).

(Added Note: Yehwah intervenes, by choosing the acceptable goat, for Atonement. The Blood or Life, of the acceptable goat, does not need to be sprinkled upon the altar to be sanctified. Only once a year, may the high priest, enter the Most Holy Place. Presenting, the acceptable Life Blood, sprinkling it on and before the Mercy Seat. The Life Blood, is Holy. And it is the Blood, by reason of the Holy Life, that “Makes” “Atonement”. It is important to emphasize, the word “Makes”. The word “Makes”, identifies the Holy Life, directly performing the action, of “Atonement”, cleansing and purging, of Sin. )


Leviticus 16:15–19 (NASB95) — 15 “Then he shall slaughter the goat of the 

(sin offering = “Conviction of Sin”) 

which is for the people, and bring its blood inside the veil and do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat and in front of the mercy seat. 16 “He shall 

(“make” = the acceptable sacrificial Blood or Life, representing perfection. So that, “Conviction of Sin” is established. “Making Atonement”, purging and cleansing, possible.) 

(“Atonement” = “Kiper = purge or cleansing”) 

for the holy place, 

because of the impurities of the sons of Israel and because of their transgressions in regard to all their sins; and thus he shall do for the 

(“tent of meeting” = Yehwah’s presence in the Tabernacle, establishes Holiness. The worshipers, “Sin” and “Contamination”, only exist outside of the “Tent of Meeting”.) 

which abides with them in the midst of their impurities. 17 “When he goes in to 

(“make” = the Holy “Blood or Life, must “Convict” the people of their Sin.) 

(Atonement = “Kiper = purge or cleansing”) 

in the holy place, 

no one shall be in the tent of meeting until he comes out, that he may 

(“make” = the acceptable sacrificial Blood or Life, Convicts the people of Sin. So that, Atonement purging or cleansing may occur.) 

(“Atonement” = “Kiper = purge or cleansing”) 

for himself and for his household and for all the assembly of Israel. 

18 “Then he shall go out to the altar that is before the Lord and 

(“make” = the acceptable sacrificial Blood or Life, is intended to convict Israel of their sins. So that Atonement purging and cleansing may remove sin from the people.) 

(“Atonement” = “Kiper = purge or cleansing”) 

for it, and shall take some of the blood of the bull and of the blood of the goat and put it on the horns of the altar on all sides. 19 “With his finger he shall sprinkle some of the blood on it seven times 

and cleanse it, and from the impurities of the sons of Israel

(“consecrate” it = maintaining the Holiness of the altar).

Cleansing and Purging Sin, from the People


(Added Note: Lev 16:30; 31; 32; 33; 34; emphasis is placed on the acceptable, Holy Life, that “Makes Atonement”. Providing the cleansing and purging, of the “Sins” of the worshipers. In contrast, the designation of “Holy”, remains as the permanent status, of the actively serving priest, altar, and Most Holy Place. Only the people need to be “Cleansed” and “DeContaminated” from Sin. The definition of “Sin”. Identifies a thought or action associated with a person, that intentionally or unintentionally violate Yehwah’s Covenant Commandments.

Symbolically, the high priest, is sanctified, by the Holy Spirit of Yehwah’s presents in the Tabernacle. And the high priest, must represent Holiness, in thought and activity, while serving in the Tabernacle. However, even a human priest, may be “Convicted “of their own “Sin”. And all human “Sin”, requires Atonement, cleansing and purification. In contrast, the Holy altar, Tent of Meeting, and Ark of the Covenant, are incapable of Sinning. And the presence of Yehwah, maintains Holiness, within the Tabernacle.. So, only the people “Sin”, and they need to be “DeContaminated”.

The Atonement, cleansing and purging of Sin, also expresses Yehwah’s Merciful Forgiveness. Atonement Forgiveness, may be received, by repentance and performing, the other symbolic sacrifices, when a person is “Convicted” of “Guilt” or “Sin”.

Approaching Yehwah’s Holy Tabernacle, requires ceremonial purity. Physical uncleanliness or disease, must be “DeContaminated”, buy water washing or quarantine. Even animals, land, and physical structures may be contaminated. All “Contamination”, is unclean, and must be separated from Yehwah’s Holy presence within the Tabernacle.)


Leviticus 16:30–34 (NASB95) — 30 for it is on this day that atonement shall be made for you to cleanse you; you will be clean from all your sins before the Lord. 31 “It is to be a sabbath of solemn rest for you, that you may 

(“humble your souls” = fasting or self denial, is the act of personal repentance. Desiring Atonement purification, from Sin, and Lawlessness, that violate Yehwah’s Holy and Righteous, Covenant Commandments.); 

it is a permanent statute. 32 “So the priest who is anointed and ordained to serve as priest in his father’s place shall make atonement: he shall thus put on the linen garments, the holy garments, 33 and make atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make atonement for the tent of meeting and for the altar. He shall also make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly. 34 “Now you shall have this as a permanent statute, to make atonement for the sons of Israel for all their sins once every year.” And just as the Lord had commanded Moses, so he did.


Messiah, the Holy Life of Atonement


Hebrews 9:1–28 (NASB95) — 1 Now even the first (priesthood) had regulations of divine worship and the earthly sanctuary. 2 For there was a tabernacle prepared, the outer one, in which were the lampstand and the table and the sacred bread; this is called the holy place. 3 Behind the second veil there was a tabernacle which is called the Holy of Holies, 4 having a golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was a golden jar holding the manna, and Aaron’s rod which budded, and the tables of the covenant; 5 and above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat; but of these things we cannot now speak in detail. 6 Now when these things have been so prepared, the priests are continually entering the outer tabernacle performing the divine worship, 7 but into the second, only the high priest enters once a year, not without taking blood, which he offers for himself and for the sins of the people committed in ignorance.

8 The Holy Spirit is signifying this, that the way into the holy place has not yet been disclosed while the outer tabernacle is still standing, 9 which is a symbol for the present time. Accordingly both gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot make the worshiper perfect in conscience, 10 since they relate only to food and drink and various washings, regulations for the body imposed until a time of reformation. 


(Jn 10:30; 14:9-10; 15:9-10; 17:1-3; 11; 17; 21; 22; 23; Messiah Yeshua, a rose from death, and ascended into the Most Holy Tabernacle of Heaven. Messiah’s Holy Life, of Spiritual Oneness with the Father, became the source of salvation. Pouring out, the Atonement cleansing, of the Holy Spirit.) 


11 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation;

(Messiah’s Holy Life Blood, Makes Atonement.)


12 and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

(The Holy Spirit within Messiah, is the Atonement Life, that cleanses, the Truly repentant worshipers, from Sin.)


15 For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. 16 For where a covenant is, there must of necessity be the death of the one who made it. 17 For a covenant is valid only when men are dead, for it is never in force while the one who made it lives.

(Ro 1:1; 2; 3; 4; 5; Messiah’s death and resurrection to Eternal Life, proved he is the only Savior. And every disciple, following Messiah, must put to death their human sinful nature. And Faithfully Obedient disciples, have Hope of their own, resurrection to eternal life.)


18 Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood. 19 For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, 20 saying, “This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded you.” 21 And in the same way he sprinkled both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood. 22 And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

(Lev 17:11; Symbolic Blood represents the acceptable Holy Life, that Makes Atonement, and provides Cleansing, and Forgiveness of Sin.)


23 Therefore it was necessary for the copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; 25 nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the holy place year by year with blood that is not his own. 26 Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to 

(“put away sin” = Messiah became the Atonement Life, pouring out the Holy Spirit, for cleansing and purging, sin from worshipers.) 

by the sacrifice of Himself. 27 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, 28 so Christ also, having been offered once to 

(“bear the sins” = Messiah suffered, the UnJust cruelty of Lawless mankind. So that, people would be “Convicted” of their Sins and repent.

Acts 2:22; 23; 24; 32; 33; 34; 35; 36; 37; 38; 3:26; )

of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.

Salvation, is Freedom from Sin


(Heb 5:7; 8; 9; 10; 7:15; 16; 17; 24; 25; 26; 1 Peter 2:20; 21; 22; 23; Messiah Yeshua’s Sacrifice of Perfect Faithful Obedience, became the example, for His disciples to follow. And Messiah, was declared to be high priest Melchizedek, by the power of indestructible Life. )


Hebrews 7:24–27 (NASB95) — 24 but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently. 25 Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. 26 For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens; 27 who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.

(Lev 17:11; the blood of the sacrificial animal, is only a symbolic representation, of Messiah’s Perfect Sinless Life. Messiah’s Spiritual Life, of Perfect Oneness and Unity with the Father, is the True Spiritual Cleansing of Atonement. Messiah’s “Life Blood” symbolizes, Pouring out the Holy Spirit, Freeing disciples, from Sin that leads to Death.)

Sacrificial Symbolism vs Faithful Obedience
