  Question: do human beings have an immortal soul? The topic of Eternal Life is throughout the Bible. When  the first man Adam was created he became a living being. Bible translators often use the modern word (soul) to substitute for the original languages. In the old testament Hebrew language describes Adam as a living creature (chey–yeha nephesh) which means a living being dependent upon breath (air). The New Testament Greek language uses the word psyche to describe the intellectual knowledge of self-awareness and free will to express the life in humans. The word soul is constructed from the Hebrew and Greek words that do not contain any reference to immortality.

The belief in the transcendent existence of a person's inner being or psyche originates in various tribal and cultural mythologies. The reality of physical death invokes the mind with a desire to understand the purpose for life and stirs the imagination with hope to see life beyond death.

logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Ec3.11  (Ec 3:11) states that the mind of humans may ponder thoughts of eternity but only the One who is Eternal understands the beginning and end of His purpose for creating mankind.
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Ge1.26  (Ge 1:26) Then God (Eloheyem) said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness.”
[The Eloheyem Family: The Father and Son created  mankind in their image & likeness. (They are self aware,possessing free will, and United in a Spirit of Righteous Holy Character and Trusting Love)]
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Ge2.7  (Ge 2:7) The Lord God (Yehawah Eloheyem) formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
[Adam received the breath of life: {chey-Yeha; hebrew for: life or strength from Yehawah}and he became a living being: {nephesh; hebrew for creature}]
logosres:strongs;ref=HebrewStrongs.2416 { חַיָּה [chay /khah·ee/] adj translates as “live”, “life”, “beast”, “alive”, “creature”, “living"}
 [Chey-yeha: means; to be alive; (either man or animal) & ( a temporary physical being)]

 {nephesh is similar to the Greek  ψυχή [psyche]
[Nephesh: is a creature; (self-aware) & ( either man or animal) & (able to procreate a family ) & (dependent on physical food, water, and breath for LIFE)]

logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Jn5.39   (Jn 5:39; 40) You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Mt10.28  (Mt 10:28; 29) Do not be afraid of those who kill the body (soma) but cannot kill the soul (psyche). Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul (psyche) and body (soma) in hell (the all consuming Fire of Yehawah). 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.
[Psyche is a persons knowledge of self existence.]
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Mt10.28  (Lk 12:19) And I’ll say to myself (psyche), “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”
[Will we love ourself  or Love The Eternal & others?]
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Mt16.24  (Mt 16:24; 26; 27) Then Jesus (Yeshua) said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save his life (psyche) will lose it, but whoever loses his life (psyche) for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul (psyche)? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul (psyche)? 27
[To deny selfish desires is self discipline (to be a disciple of The Savior);To Love (Yehawah our Eloheyem) is the pursuing of Righteousness and Eternal Life (LOVE)]
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Jn12.25  (Jn 12:25; 26) Whoever serves me must follow me;
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Mt22.37  (Mt 22:37) Jesus (Yeshua) replied: “ ‘Love the Lord (Yehawah) your God (Eloheyem) with all your heart and with all your soul (psyche) and with all your mind (understanding)." (Mt 19:17)
[Love The Eternal by keeping His commandments.]
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Dt6.4Dt 6:4) Hear, O Israel: The Lord (Yehawah) our God (Eloheyem), the Lord (Yehawah) is one (Unity).
[Love The Eternal & obey His commandments first; then we will learn to love our neighbor.]
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Mk12.24  (Mk 12:24; 25; 26;27) & (Mk 12:18; 19; 20; 21; 22; 23) (The Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Yeshua with a question... 23 At  the resurrection whose wife will she be, since seven men were married to her?”)  24 Jesus (Yeshua) replied, “Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of the Father (Eloheyem is Eternal; but humans are temporary and mortal)? 25 When the dead ( the greek word nekron: means completely dead; then the physical & the psyche must be restored to life and) rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. 26 Now about the dead rising—have you not read in the book of Moses, in the account of the bush, how Elohe; Logos said to him, ‘I am the Elohe of Abraham, the Elohe of Isaac, and the Elohe of Jacob’? 27 He is not the Elohe of the dead.
(Eloheyem is a Family and forms a relationship with the LIVING NOT the dead; Ps 115:17)
(Abraham, Isaac, Jacob are now dead; Ec  9:5; Ac 2:29; 30-31;32-33; 34; Jn 3:13)
(but will be made alive again at the time of the resurrection of the DEAD!!! (Job 14:14-15; Matt 24:31, 1Th 4:16, 1Co 15:52, Rev 20:4)]
The Father & Son are The Eloheyem of the living: (zao:means alive) . If you believe in an immortal soul you are badly mistaken!”)
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Ps16.10  (Ps 16:10) because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay
.[David spoke of the Resurrection from death to new Life.]

logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.1Co15.53  (1Co 15:53) For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Ps19.7  (Ps 19:7) The law of the Lord (Yehawah) is perfect, reviving the soul (nephesh). The statutes of the Lord (Yehawah) are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
[to Love Righteousness is to seek eternal life.]
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Eze18.20  (Eze 18:20)  The soul (nephesh) who sins is the one who will die. The son will not share the guilt of the father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous man will be credited to him, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against him.
[The Psyche - mind of a person; controls their willful actions; Righteousness leads to life or Sin leads to death.]
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.2Pe2.8  (2 Pe 2:8)  (for that righteous man (Lot), living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul (psyche) by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)—
[The psyche - mind of the Righteous Can Not be in agreement  with wickedness!]
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Jas5.20  (Jas 5:20)  remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save (his psyche) him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.
[The Righteous turn people away from sin to save their soul (psyche) from death!]
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Ac3.23  (Ac 3:23)  Anyone (the psyche) who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from among his people.’
[A soul or psyche that will Not receive Truth; will die in Sin; which is Lawlessness!]
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Heb4.12  (Heb 4:12)  For the word of God (Eloheyem) is living (zon; alive) and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul (psyche) and spirit (pneumatos), joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
logosres:tdnt;ref=GreekStrongs.415 { πνεῦμα [pneuma] means: 1. Wind; 2. Breath; 3. Life; 4. Soul; 5. Transferred Meaning: Spirit.}
[pneuma: meaning air is transformed into the word spirit by a metaphor associating the dependence of the physical body on breath to stay alive; compared with every persons need to be filled with The Holy Spirit of Eloheyem The Father to be forever alive, united and ONE in heart & mind (which is the psyche) of the Eternal!]
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.1Th5.23  (1 Th 5:23)  May God (The Father) himself, the God (Eloheyem) of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit (pneuma), soul (psyche) and body (soma) be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.[The breath, psyche and body forms a complete person when empowered by the Holy Spirit and adopted into The Family of Eloheyem; at the time of the Resurrection of the dead (the Renewing of Life) that begins at the return of the Son!!!]
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Jn6.63   (Jn 6:63) The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirita and they are life.
[Only unity in the Holy Spirit of The Father & Son gives Eternal Life!!!]

WHAT IS SIN ?
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.1Jn3  (1 Jn 3:4; 5; 6) Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.

WHAT IS SALVATION ?
logosres:niv;ref=BibleNIV.Ac2.38  (Ac 2:38; 39) Peter called out, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Yeshua the Anointing for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
